Language and Literacy
Literacy is very much at the centre of primary education. It focuses on the development of each pupil’s ability to understand and use both spoken and written language as an integral part of their learning. Children learn to communicate, enabling them to express themselves socially, emotionally and physically. At Macosquin Primary School, pupils are provided with many opportunities to engage and demonstrate the skill of communication and to transfer their knowledge to real-life, meaningful contexts.
Language and Literacy is assessed using three key areas:
- Talking and Listening
- Reading
- Writing
