Pancake Tuesday
Pancake day in Reception brought great excitement. We talked about the names of the utensils and ingredients used, some interesting words such as sieve, scales, griddle, flour and buttermilk were new to some children. This led our discussion to what some utensils are used for. What are scales used for? What are we measuring? Why do we use a sieve? Fabulous discussion! We then realise that the mixture needed cooked. We enjoyed watching the pancakes cook and air bubbles appear ready to be flipped! Deciding which toppings we might like on our pancake was a treat- butter and sugar was a favourite. Some children decided to try a slice of lemon by itself to find a sharp bitter taste! It was lovely to see everyone growing in independence as they selected and managed their own topping. Happy Pancake Day everyone!
