Macosquin Primary School, Coleraine

Year 7

Welcome to P7!

The final year of primary school is jam packed with learning, consolidation, problem solving and preparation for Post Primary school. Our teacher is Mr Grant and we have lots of other adults to support us with our learning.

The first part of the year we try to revise all of our mathematical concepts covered in the Transfer tests alongside the comprehension skills needed to succeed. After Christmas we will be trying to prepare for post primary by learning about algebra, using a protractor and extending our knowledge of averages. Each week we have a problem solving lesson using our IZAK9 cubes. We love learning about primes, multiples, all four operations, bearings and so much more in just one problem solving lessons.

We are a creative bunch in P7! One of our favourite things to do is use pictures as inspiration for creative writing stories. Thinking outside the box and being proud of our writing is an essential for our class.

We have been learning reading skills like inference, authorial technique, prediction and cause and effect  through shared and modelled reading sessions. We also love reading in small groups with our teacher each week and discuss the guided reading books together.

PE is a big part of Our class. We love coming together and working in a team to compete in different games. Our gymnastics sessions help us to develop our core stability, agility, balance, movement and flexibility.
