Year 7 Residential

12th May 2016

Year 7 set off on their class residential to Gortatole at 9am on Monday 9th May. After a long bus journey they arrived at the Outer Centre where they were staying ready to get stuck into some adventure activities. After settling into the rooms and having a quick bite to eat the class split into 2 groups. One group went down to the lake to have a go at some canoeing and the other went to the nearby Marble Arch Caves to do some caving. After dinner the groups took part in some Orienteering which the children were extremely good at!

The children woke the next morning after a lovely, full night's sleep... After having some breakfast they got straight into the next activity. One group tried out the caving while another had a go at indoor wall climbing which were both great fun! The rest of the day consisted of lunch, more climbing and canoeing, dinner and then some team games and time in the games room before everyone went to bed exhausted!

The group left Gortatole at 9am on Wednesday and made their way to the Ulster American Folk Park. After looking around the park and having some lunch the children spent lots of money in the gift shop and set off back to Macosquin to meet their families.

The class had a great time on the trip, trying new things, pushing themselves and forming stronger bonds with their classmates. It was a great experience for them and a fantastic memory to take forward as they move on next year.
