We had three tournaments over the course of the academic year, all of which have been relatively successful. When you take into account that we are a small school competing against others which have almost double the amount of children to choose a team from, we punch well above our weight.

The Mullan Cup, the 5-a-side tournament, was our first tournament of the year. We battled hard and managed to finish a very respectable 7th position in the district. We used this tournament to work on our structure and team work which we hoped would stand us in good stead for the games ahead.

The Doherty Shield was our 9-a-side tournament which is played in stages throughout the year. We had 3 excellent wins in the preliminary, 1st round and last 16 games but fell agonisingly short in the quarter final game to a late goal. Although we were disappointed, the team were proud of not only how they played but how they conducted themselves throughout the tournament.

The Killowen Cup was the final tournament of the year and turned out to be our most successful. This tournament was for our 7-a-side team who played extremely well and managed to finish 6th overall in our District, turning over some much larger schools in the process.

As the boys’ coach I can tell you what a fantastic group of children they are. They have been a credit to the school, their parents and themselves throughout this year and I am enormously proud of each one of them.
